Today is day 2 of the 2021 Cadet World Championships and if today goes as well as it did yesterday for Team USA then the team could end up with 8 finalists in Men’s Freestyle.
If you missed any of the action from yesterday you can get results here: Day 1 Cadet World Championship Results, ⁰but for the short version Team USA put 4 guys into the finals yesterday with only 5 guys wrestling yesterday. The finals will be around 12:00 PM USA time.
Today though kicks off the last 5 weights in Men’s Freestyle and that will be 45 KG, 51 KG, 60 KG, 72 KG, and 92 KG. They will wrestle all the way through the semi-finals today so you don’t want to miss it. Check back here for updated brackets throughout the day and that will be here: Cadet World Championship Brackets
So for today’s weights:
45 KG
At 45 KG we will be seeing The youngster out of Pennsylvania Bo Bassett take the mat. He’ll be in the Greco-Roman tournament in a couple days so that shows his domestic dominance. Bassett will start off with Malkhazi Khelaia from Georgia in the Qualification Round.
51 KG
At 51 KG Team USA will be sending out Iowa native Nate Jesuroga. Jesuroga beat Fargo 16U runner-up Aden Valencia to earn the world spot. Jesuroga will be taking on Turkey’s Resul Dogan in the Qualification Round.
60 KG
Beau Mantanona from California will be taking the mat for Team USA. Mantonona comes from a long line of great California wrestlers including 2 Brothers in college and another brother placing 2nd at Fargo. Mantanona will be taking on Abdulrahman Ibrahimov from Azerbaijan in the first of 2 Qualification Rounds.
71 KG
Now to 71 KG Pennsylvania native Levi Haines will be out there for Team USA. Levi Haines took down Aiden Riggins in 3 matches at Cadet Nationals and Riggins is in the finals for Juniors at Fargo today so it speaks to Haines performance a few months ago. Haines will take on Asadbek Karimov from Uzbekistan in the first of two Qualification Rounds.
92 KG
Finally for today at 92 KG we will be seeing Minnesota native Gavin Nelson. Nelson recently just committed to wrestle at the University of Minnesota in the future so he is good. Nelson took down PJ Casale at Cadet Nationals in dominant fashion and looks to continue today. Nelson will be taking on Khaleifah Mohamed Rashed Hassan Alhefeiti from the UAE.
The action will kick off at 5:30 AM on flowrestling with the qualification rounds through quarterfinals and then at 10:45 AM with Semi-Finals. As I said before but I will repeat that there will be the finals today at around 12:00 PM for 48 KG, 55 KG, 65 KG. 80 KG, and 110 KG.
